Determine to Have a Christian Home
A house is a place, but a home is made of people. A Christian home is a home where people are living their Christian faith each day.
I recently had the privilege of talking to a man who builds houses. He took me on a tour of some of the houses he had built. As we went from house to house,
he explained that there were different grades of materials that could be used to build each house.
The cost of the house depended on the quality of the material used. The dwelling with the least expensive material was just as much a “house” as the building with the most expensive material. They were built for the same purpose; the only difference was in the quality of the materials that were used. Simply stated, it costs more to have a better house because of the quality of the materials. Many people appear to be working hard on their home life but are simply using the wrong materials.
The Bible says in the book of Colossians, chapter three, verses fifteen through twenty-one, “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.”
THREE HOMES WE ALL NEED
We all should have three homes. We need to know that we have a heavenly home. If we have asked the Lord to forgive our sin, and by faith we have received the Lord Jesus Christ; we have a heavenly home.
We should have a good church home. Do not underestimate the power and influence of a good, Bible-believing, Bible- preaching church. Everyone should believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and belong to a Bible-believing, Bible-preaching church. We know that Jesus Christ is the foundation and the head of the church, but we cannot have strong churches without strong families. If we turn the coin to the other side, we find that what strengthens the home is a good Bible-believing, Bible-preaching church. We need a good church home.
Not only do we need a heavenly home and a church home, but we also need a strong Christian home. Satan is real, and families are falling apart everywhere. I hope these thoughts from God’s Word will strengthen you and your family as you determine to have a Christian home.
