Why Did He Come?

The Lord Jesus Christ is not a god among other gods. He is God, co-equal, co-existent, eternally existent with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. Christ did not begin in Bethlehem.  God became man in Bethlehem.  He was robed in flesh, incarnate.  God became man without ever ceasing to be God, yet without sin.

Why did He come?  Because this sinful, human race needs a Savior.  The Bible says, All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own wayThe truth is, all of us have gone astray and turned to our own way.  The Bible says, There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

A little girl in a Sunday school was asked to quote a Bible verse.  Like most people, she said she would quote John 3:16.  When she started quoting the verse, she quoted, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only forgotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

As far as the Bible is concerned, she almost had it right. The Bible does not say, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only forgotten Sonthe Bible says, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son… But she spoke the truth.

At no time during the year is it so evident that Christ is forgotten than at the time of the year that He should be remembered most.  It is one thing to be disturbed about the secularizing of Christmas and all that takes place in the name of cheer and good will that leaves Jesus Christ completely out of the picture.  But it is another thing entirely to have left Him our of your life.  If you leave Him out of your life, the Scriptures clearly teach that you go to hell when you die.

Jesus said there was a man who died.

And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

Those, my friends, are the words of Jesus.  He also said,

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

I do not think you should claim to be intelligent and say that you believe the Bible and choose to believe in Heaven and from the same Bible read the truth but yet refuse to believe in Hell.

The Bible says if you have left Christ out of your life, the tragedy is you have lived a Christ-less life and missed the human beings greatest journey, that is to be journeying in this life with Jesus Christ on our way to glory.  If you have left Him out of your life, not only have you missed Him here, you will miss Him in eternity.  It is to be forever without God and without hope.

Christ came to this earth and Mary brought forth in that virgin birth what God sent forth. When God sent His Son, He looked at me and looked at you and saw that we needed a Savior.
